What Lies Beneath: 25 Years Later, the Ghosts Return in Stunning 4K

Scream Factory Celebrates the Supernatural Thriller with a Loaded 25th Anniversary Edition

By MoreHorror Staff

What if the perfect marriage was hiding something… not-so-perfect? One of the slickest supernatural thrillers of the early 2000s is making its way back to haunt your home theater in high-def style. On May 6, 2025, Scream Factory unleashes a 4K UHD + Blu-ray combo pack of What Lies Beneath, the eerie Robert Zemeckis-directed chiller starring Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer.

This new 25th Anniversary Edition isn’t just a rehash. It features a brand-new 4K transfer from the original 35mm camera negative, lovingly approved by cinematographer Don Burgess, plus the kind of juicy extras horror fans crave—like the full-length retrospective doc, “You Know: Uncovering What Lies Beneath,” with new interviews from the cast and crew.

Pre-ordering directly from ShoutFactory.com? You’ll score a limited-edition 18” x 24” poster with the original theatrical artwork. Perfect for your ghostly gallery wall.

The Plot (Still Creepy After All These Years)

Pfeiffer plays Claire Spencer, a woman plagued by ghostly visions and whispers in her lakeside home. Her husband Norman (Ford) chalks it up to paranoia—until the paranormal becomes undeniably real. What follows is a slow-burn descent into secrets, lies, and a past that won’t stay buried.

Zemeckis, who filmed this between Cast Away shoots (yes, seriously), brings a Hitchcockian touch, building dread with every reflection, creak, and bathtub ripple.
